18th Annual Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run-Walk and One-Mile Walk
Celebrate National Senior Center Month, National Falls Prevention Day and Active Aging Week at this event. The One-Mile Fun Walk is perfect for our youngest and oldest participants. The 5K Race will be held on CCBC Essex campus, will be timed and professionally managed by Charm City Run, and will include a virtual component. Free fall prevention and health and fitness screenings will be available, as well as vendor tables and displays.
Event Details
- Weather—The event will be held rain or shine.
- Refunds—There are no refunds, including if participants are unable to attend after registering.
- Safety—The course is closed to animals, bikes, skaters and baby joggers or strollers. Masks are optional.
Participants will receive:
- A complimentary, technical, long sleeve, moisture-wicking t-shirt (Guaranteed up to the first 750 registered. Sizes and availability are not guaranteed for day-of-race registration.)
- Water on the course and at the finish line
- Post-race refreshments
- Entry into door prize drawings and Fitness Pays VISA gift cards, one card for $200 and three cards for $100 each, sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes. Must be present to win.
eveNT Schedule
On race day, 5K runners and walkers will park in lot 1; one-mile walkers will park in lot 2.
- 6:30 a.m.—Registration opens, sponsor and exhibitor set-up
- 7:30 a.m.—Health and fitness screenings, massages
- 8 a.m.—Event begins, race course roads close to the public
- 8:15 a.m.—Warm-up (on your own)
- 8:30 a.m.—5K race begins in front of the Wellness and Athletics Center
- 8:35 a.m.—One-mile walk begins near parking lot 2
- 9:45 a.m.—Awards ceremony
- 11 a.m.—Event ends
HOW TO REGISTER
Register online, download a printable registration form, or pick up a registration form from any Baltimore County Department of Aging senior center. Return the completed form and payment in person or via mail to:

Registration Fees
- Seniors, 60 and older—$20
- Adults, 18 to 59:
- $30—Early bird special, register by August 16
- $35—Register between August 17 and September 14
- $40—Day of race
- Juniors, 6 to 17—$20, discount applied at checkout
- Children, 5 and Under—Free, registration required, no shirt provided, discount applied at check-out
- Team Registration—Build morale, camaraderie and community by forming a team with your senior center, company, social club, family or friends. We encourage you to wear team t-shirts on race day!

Medals
Participants must be present to claim medals. Medals will be presented for:
- The fastest three male and female 5K finishers
- The top two male and female runners in all age categories
- The top two female runners in all age categories
The age categories include:
- 15 and under
- 16 to 19
- 20 to 29
- 30 to 39
- 40 to 49
- 50 to 59
- 60 to 69
- 70 to 79
- 80 to 89
- 90 and over
There are no medals for participants of the virtual run.
aBOUT THE Virtual Race
We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate, but are not local or are unable to attend the race in person.
- Register for the virtual event. Be sure to sign up for text or emails.
- Pick up your race shirt at packet pickup on Friday, September 13 at Bykota Senior Center, 611 Central Avenue, Towson, from noon to 4:30 p.m. You can also pick up your shirt post-race at any senior center. To coordinate pick up at a senior center, email ccook@baltimorecountymd.gov.
- You will receive a text or email when the race begins on Sunday, September 15.
- Run your race and submit your results by text message, email or by providing your results to Charm City Run by Sunday, September 15, at 11:59 p.m. eastern time. Results update in real time as people submit their race times. Be sure to take photos and share on our photo page.
- Race results are posted on our results page.
- Virtual race performances are not eligible for the event awards; however, we will acknowledge winners in our post-race communication.
