Take a Leap Baltimore County Dance Celebration announces featured performances
Event features Koresh Dance, Snow White, Dissonance Dance
The Take a Leap Baltimore County Dance Celebration, takes to the stage January 4 - March 8, 2019. The celebration, in its sixth year, features national and regional performers, master classes with guest artists, and student dance and choreography showcases.
Featured performances include contemporary dance from Philadelphia-based Koresh Dance Company; Dissonance Dance Theatre performing selections choreographed to Vivaldi, Philip Glass, gospel and disco; and intermedia performances by the Baltimore Dance Project. In addition to Koresh Dance Company, the Gordon Center presents Snow White from Maryland Ballet Theatre and the Baltimore Dance Invitational featuring original works by regional professional dancers and dance companies.
“Take a Leap is for anyone who moves!” said Alyson Bonavoglia, artistic director for the Gordon Center for Performing Arts and Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore. “The Take A Leap Baltimore County Dance Celebration is a highlight of my year. I am thrilled to work with colleagues from Towson University, Goucher College, Community College of Baltimore County, Baltimore County Public Schools and the Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences.”
For the sixth year running, the Gordon Center brings an internationally renowned dance company to Baltimore County —Koresh Dance in 2019 — and sponsors extensive outreach activities with the company for Baltimore County Public Schools students including master classes and a student-only performance, all free of charge.

Take a Leap offers a program of master classes with national guest artists and local professionals. Free or low cost classes for advanced and professional dancers include jazz/modern fusion with Jon Lehrer, contemporary with Katie Currier of Peridance Contemporary Dance, ballet with Melinda Blomquist and jazz with Tommy Parlon.
