Two Die in December 29 House Fires
Two people died in December 29 house fires in Edgemere and Gwynn Oak.
3700 block of Cedar Drive, 21207
Baltimore County Police identified the victim as James Dozier Jr., 25.
Fire crews were dispatched at 11:39 p.m. for a report of a dwelling fire with rescue in the 3700 block of Cedar Drive, 21207 (Gwynn Oak). Firefighters found fire at the front and rear of a single-family home and received information from a resident of the home that her brother was trapped in a second-floor bedroom.
Firefighters entered to search for the victim and found him on the second floor, in cardiac arrest. He received emergency medical care by BCoFD EMS crews and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Fire investigators determined that the fire began in the kitchen and was accidental.
2500 block of S. Snyder Avenue, 21219
Baltimore County Police identified the victim as Joseph Nichols, 85.
Fire crews were dispatched at 2:21 a.m. to the 2500 block of Snyder Avenue South (Edgemere) and found a fully-involved dwelling fire. Firefighters received reports that an occupant was not accounted for and began search and rescue. They located the victim, deceased, in the kitchen.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
