BALTIMORE COUNTY REMEMBERS FALLEN HERO FATALLY SHOT IN THE LINE OF DUTY
Today, members of the Baltimore County Police Department are honoring the memory of fallen hero, Police Officer First Class Jason Schneider, by wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniform or mourning band on their badge. Eleven years ago, Officer Schneider, a Baltimore County Police Department Tactical Unit member, was assisting in serving a search and seizure warrant that stemmed from a shooting that occurred days prior. When the Tactical Unit entered the home, members encountered armed suspects who engaged the officers in gunfire. Officer Schneider was struck during that exchange. He passed away at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center later that morning.
Officer Schneider's sacrifice on August 28, 2013, will never be forgotten. His name is now inscribed on a monument located at Patriot Plaza in Towson that lists the names of all Baltimore County police officers who have died in the line of duty.
