Baltimore County Police Commemorate 40 Years of Flying
ORIGINAL October 11, 2023
In commemoration of the Baltimore County Police Aviation Team’s 40th Anniversary, the Airborne Public Safety Association is partnering with the Department to conduct an Aviation Safety Standdown that commemorates the past forty years of flying. During the APSA Safety Standdown, law enforcement aviators from across the United States will receive knowledge-based aviation safety training focused on improving operational risk management and risk mitigation. The Baltimore County Police Aviation Team has flown nearly 51,000 accident-free flight hours since its humble beginning in 1983. Proclamations and citations will be presented to commemorate this milestone during a ceremony at Martin State Airport. Among those who will be recognized is Roy Taylor. Roy started the Aviation Team in 1983 when he leased his personal Cessna 150 to Baltimore County for $1 a year.
