Sex Offenders with a No Contact Order will be Monitored on Halloween

Baltimore County Police will be keeping an eye on sex offenders who are not allowed to have contact with children this Halloween.

A no contact order, in effect, prohibits them from handing out candy to children on Halloween. Only about 10 percent of registered sex offenders in Baltimore County have one as part of their probation.

Officers in marked vehicles and undercover officers in unmarked cars will be monitoring the homes of registered sex offenders who the Division of Parole and Probation has identified as having no-contact restrictions with children in conjunction with Parole and Probation agents. Residents may also find out which houses to avoid by checking the U.S. Department of Justice’s Website.

Anyone who suspects that someone who has a no-contact order is offering candy to children is asked to contact the Sex Offender Registration Team at 410-887-7740. Any other suspicious activity can be reported to 911 or Baltimore County's non-emergency line at 410-887-2222.

Registered sex offenders who are not under such an order are not prohibited from giving candy out to children.
