Baltimore County Police Remember Officer Robert Zimmerman

On Tuesday, members of the Baltimore County Police Department will be wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniform or mourning band across their badge in memory of fallen hero Officer Robert Zimmerman. Thirty-seven years ago this month, Officer Zimmerman was critically injured while conducting a business check. The incident occurred on November 5, 1986. Nine days later, Officer Zimmerman succumbed to his injuries. The 46-year-old officer had been with the Baltimore County Police Department for 18 years and was assigned to the Western Traffic Unit. During his career, Officer Zimmerman received five departmental citations and had once been named Officer of the Year by the Catonsville Optimist Club.
Officer Robert Zimmerman's name, along with the names of other fallen heroes is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson.
