BCoPD Provides Ridesharing Safety Tips

Ridesharing services are a very convenient and popular way to travel throughout the area. To ensure your safety BCoPD would like to provide some tips while utilizing ridesharing companies: 

• Have a plan- Request your ride indoors to avoid lingering outside with your phone visible, think about where you’re headed, and review the safety features in the app so you know how to use them.
• Identify the vehicle and driver-  Before getting inside the vehicle, verify the license plate, photo and name of the driver match what’s in the app.
• Share your trip – Whether it’s with a friend, family member, or in the app. It's an easy way to allow your whereabouts to be tracked in case something goes wrong.
• Give Feedback -  leave helpful feedback to ensure companies have the safest drivers.
• Call For Help- Use your best judgement. If you ever feel you’re in an emergency situation, call 911 immediately.
• Backseat rider. If you’re riding alone, sit in the backseat. This ensures you can safely exit on either side of the vehicle to avoid moving traffic, and beware of your surroundings.
• Wear Your Seatbelt – Always Buckle-Up
