Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation

At approximately 10:25 a.m., officers assigned to the Wilkens Precinct responded to the 5100 block of Leeds Ave., 21227, in reference to a subject reportedly armed with a bow and arrow. Once on scene, both uniform and plain clothes officers engaged the armed subject. During this encounter, officers responded to the actions of the armed subject, resulting in one detective discharging his firearm striking the adult male. The responding officers immediately administered life-saving measures. The subject was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The Independent Investigations Division with the Office of the Attorney General is investigating this matter.
