Search for 6-year-old Ends in Dundalk
At approximately 7 a.m., officers from the Dundalk Precinct responded to a call for service for a missing person at risk. When officers arrived at the location, they were notified the missing person was 6-years-old, autistic and non-verbal. Once officers had a description of what the child was wearing, they immediately began to canvass areas the child was known to frequent. As the search area expanded, the Baltimore County Police Department deployed additional resources including its Marine, Aviation, and K9 Units and Dive Team. As teams searched the waters of Lynch Cove, patrol officers and detectives went house to house searching areas where a child may hide. At 11:30 a.m., Marcel Traore was located in the waters of Lynch Cove in Dundalk. The child was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
This tragic incident underscores the importance of water safety for children, especially with the warm weather that is currently impacting the region. The Baltimore County Police Department wants to remind residents that it only takes a second for a child to go under. Please provide constant supervision, whether at a pool or near a body of water.
