About
The Belfast Road Park Site, acquired in 2015, is adjacent to the Sparks Elementary School Recreation Center in Sparks Glencoe. This acquisition was part of an effort to expand recreational spaces in northern Baltimore County.
Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is currently in the design phase for a development project at the Belfast Road Park Site. This project aims to create a community park featuring parking facilities, two illuminated artificial turf fields, walking paths and an area designated for future development.

Updates
At the request of community members, the Department has been working to investigate the addition of a second entrance to Belfast Road.
In June 2023, Baltimore County Property Management engaged the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) to further investigate the feasibility of a second entrance. After review, DPWT advised a second entrance might be possible if the Department of Recreation and Parks were able to meet specific requirements. To determine if the Department could meet these requirements, the design consultant needed to engage a sub-consultant to conduct a traffic study.
The traffic study concluded that the additional entrance from Belfast Road is viable but will require site modifications, resulting in additional costs.
The procurement of additional services and the investigation itself has added approximately nine months to the project.
