About
Hazelwood Skate Park is the County’s second public skate bowl style facility, becoming an eastern Baltimore County counterpart to the legendary Lansdowne Skate Park (known by many as "the 'downer"), which was built in the 1970s. The skate park is situated within the 3.4-acre park addition area that was purchased at a cost of $970,000 in 2009.
The park design and construction project budget was approximately $4.3 million, with nearly $2 million in grant funding assistance including $1.3M in Maryland Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure (LPPI) funding, $535,000 in Maryland Program Open Space (POS) funding, and $150,000 in State Aid secured at the State Legislature.
The Department of Recreation and Parks worked with the Baltimore County Skateboard Council on input for the design of this modern skate facility. The skate park includes multiple areas and features that will offer something for all levels of skateboarding skills, from beginner to expert.
