Features
The park is a multi-faceted facility leased to Baltimore County, and includes:
- Canoes and kayak launch—A permit is not required to canoe or kayak at Lake Roland. All boaters must wear a life preserver at all times while on the water and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Children’s playground
- COVID-19 Memorial Public Art Project
- Diverse ecosystems—Including wetlands, meadows, mature hardwood forests and the environmentally-sensitive serpentine barrens in the Bare Hills area/southwest corner of the park (a rare ecosystem that's home to many endangered species of flora and fauna)
- Historical significance—Includes two National Register Historic Districts
- Nature center—Offering nature and environmental programs
- Two picnic pavilions—The pavilions are first-come, first-served for families (groups under 12 persons) only if they are not reserved. Learn how to reserve a pavilion. A permit is required for groups over 12 and for organizations.
- Paw Point Dog Park—Fenced, one-acre off-leash dog park located within Lake Roland. The dog park is equipped with benches and bag dispensers for cleaning up dog waste. Membership allows two licensed and vaccinated dogs entry to the facility. When dogs are not in the dog park, they must remain on a leash.
- Trails
- Waterfront activities—Visitors boat at their own risk. Trailers and sailboats are not allowed.
