IN-HOME AIDE
The Home Care Program serves persons of all ages living in Baltimore County. Clients may include those:
- Who cannot remain in their household without concrete assistance due to a physical, emotional or mental disability
- Caregivers of disabled or chronically ill adults
- Parents who need in-home assistance to improve the care they give their children and reduce the risks of abuse and neglect
The Home Care Program provides supportive services to families and individuals as part of an overall treatment plan agreed upon by the client and their case manager, which includes:
- Assistance to mentally or emotionally ill adults
- Chores
- Guidance to caretakers
- Personal care
- Respite care
- Teaching and reinforcement of parenting skills
- Training in self-care
- Transportation
ELIGIBILITY
An individual is eligible for in-home aide services if they:
- Receive case management services from the Baltimore County Department of Social Services
- Are unable to obtain the necessary paraprofessional services from another resource
- Agree to pay any fee required as determined by the state's fee schedule

ACCEPTED INSURANCE
The following Medicare types qualify for services:
- Medicare Part A premium, if the individual does not have enough working quarters for free coverage
- Medicare Part B premium
- Medicare copayment and deductibles
The following services are covered by Medicaid if they are not covered by Medicare or any other insurance and if the Maryland Medicaid Program's specific requirements are met for the services:
- Ambulance services and emergency medical transportation
- Ambulatory surgical center services
- Clinic services
- Home and community-based services waiver for developmentally disabled or mentally retarded individuals
- Home and community-based services waiver for older adults, through area agencies on aging
- Home health agency services
- Hospice care
- Hospital inpatient and outpatient services—acute, chronic, psychiatric, rehabilitation and specialty
- Kidney dialysis services
- Laboratory and x-ray services
- Medical day care services
- Medical equipment and supplies
- Mental health treatment, case management and rehabilitation services
- Nurse anesthetist and nurse practitioner services
- Nursing facility services
- Oxygen services and related respiratory equipment services
- Personal care services
PHARMACY SERVICES
- Physical therapy
- Physician services including a dentist's medical and surgical services
- Podiatry services
- Statewide Evaluation and Planning Services (STEPS), through local health departments
- Substance abuse treatment services
- Targeted case management for HIV individuals
- Transportation services to Medicaid covered services, through local health departments
- Vision care services—eye examination every two years
