NEWS
- Join the Sleepover Squad! This new foster initiative allows you to bring home a dog for just a night or two! Supplies and medical care are provided. If you’re interested in short-term fostering, submit an application.
- Looking to adopt? All fees are currently waived! Adoptions are completed same-day in-person. We do not accept applications digitally.
- Avian Influenza in Domestic Cats and Backyard Poultry—The H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus has recently reemerged and increased its ability to infect people exposed to infected dairy cows and poultry. Learn more here.
- Pet Surrenders—We encourage families to seek placement of pets with friends or family before surrendering your pet to the shelter. There are lots of resources to help keep pets with their families. If you need to surrender your pet to the shelter, an appointment is required. To get assistance with rehoming your animal or scheduling an appointment, please call 410-887-7297.
- Volunteers Wanted—If you're dedicated to walking dogs or caring for cats and critters, come volunteer with us! Inquire about hosting an event with the Adoption Express Cuddle Shuttle by emailing bcasvolunteer@baltimorecountymd.gov.
- Microchipping—Call BCAS at 410-887-PAWS (7297) to schedule a $10 microchipping appointment.

WILDLIFE CONTROL
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides formation, referrals, and services for wildlife nuisances, conservation, rescue and rehabilitation. It is generally illegal to trap raccoons, foxes, squirrels, opossums, skunks, deer, rabbits, snakes and most birds, unless the landowner has obtained a valid permit from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
